Jaemy Choong

Jaemy C (Jaemy Choong) is a multi-disciplinary visual artist from Kuala Lumpur with a background in advertising, graphic design, and production: a former ad copywriter, TV art director, and for five years co-founder and creative director of the design studio Kickatomic.

His eclectic style fuses experimental sumi brush calligraphy, pop culture, and cute-but-twisted sci-fi elements, held together by a committed streak of dry humour, satire, and sarcasm.

In 2021 and 2022 he was cyberbullied online following an adidas collaboration controversy. Rather than look away, he collected the hate comments and turned them into paint. That confrontation reshaped his practice: the layered acrylic and brushwork now read as a kind of record of modern internet trauma, the small and strange micro-interactions people inflict on each other online, and what survives them.

His work has been shown at ChinaHouse Penang, AweGallery, Kwai Chai Hong, and HEART in Kampung Attap, and he has partnered with Shake Shack, Hilton, Samsung, Lenskart, TIME Internet, RHB, adidas, and Kodama Toys Japan.
